He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Revelation 21:4-5

Hello, my walking friend! You know, one day Jesus is going to make all things new, including our bodies! But until then, let’s encourage each other to be good stewards of the bodies Jesus has given us as we walk through life here on earth. And taking even 10 minutes, like you are doing now, to walk and spend time with Jesus, is being a good steward, so way to go!!

Today is the 20th episode in the transformation series and our verse to meditate on is Revelation 21:4-5:
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

Transformation. Renewal. These words hold a profound promise, a glimmer of hope that calls us to embrace a future where tears are wiped away, where pain is eradicated, and where the old order of things has passed away. Today’s scripture paints a vivid picture of a world made new, where suffering is replaced by rejoicing. It’s a vision that awakens our longing for a place devoid of pain, where the weight of grief will be lifted from our weary hearts. Imagine a moment when our tears are gently wiped away by the tender hand of our Creator, Jesus. Jesus who knows every sorrow we’ve carried. It’s a comforting thought, isn’t it?
As we navigate the challenges of our everyday lives, we hold on to the hope of a future redeemed. It is a hope that empowers us to embrace the process of transformation, both individually and collectively. It’s a hope that is based on a key part of this verse – listen again – these words are trustworthy and true. That is why we can, with confidence, surrender our pain, grief, and brokenness to the One is making all things new. Because Jesus, the Word made flesh, is truth. And God’s renewal is not merely an external makeover, though one day we will be given new bodies, but it is a profound inward transformation of our hearts and souls.

So, dear walking friend, let us live in eager anticipation of the day when all things will be made right. Let us allow God’s grace to work within us, shaping us into vessels of love, compassion, and renewal. And as we walk toward that glorious day, let us find more encouragement in God’s word:
He will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth. The Lord has spoken. Isaiah 25:8
See, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind Isaiah 65:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here. 2 Corinthians 5:17
For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Revelation 7:17

And now let’s take a little time to meditate on today’s verse, Revelation 21:4-5:
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

You are now at the halfway point of your walk. If you need to be back in 10 minutes, this would be the time to turn around and head back.

The second half of our walk is an opportunity for reflection, meditation, and prayer. For many of us, myself included, this might feel challenging. But the spiritual rewards, and transformation, that come from developing this discipline is great and so is the power of the Holy Spirit to help us. So let’s start with some questions that will guide you in the process of reflection.

What is causing you pain in your life right now? Does it help you know Jesus feels your pain, he loves you, and one day you will never feel pain again? Consider your answer now.

What excessive pleasures in this world distract you from fixing your eyes on Jesus? Think of those things now.

One day, Jesus will make ALL things new, but for today, what area of your life would you like renewal? Ask Jesus for his help in this area of your life.

Now let’s listen to today’s verse one last time: Revelation 21:4-5:
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”

Is there anything else you would like to talk to Jesus about? Anything going on in your life? Remember he is right there with you, walking with you, and he is eager for you to share all that is on your heart and mind with him. Take some time to talk to him now.

Now I am going to pray for us:
Dear Jesus,
It’s hard to imagine you in all your glory and power in heaven. My mind wants to see you as someone like me, because that makes me feel comfortable. I know you were human, like me, but help me remember you are also God, powerful and worthy of being worshiped. When I get too focused on the problems and pleasures of this world, remind me I should fix my eyes on you instead. When life is painful here, remind me that one day you will take away my pain and wipe away my tears. When renewal feels impossible, remind me that with you all things are possible and that you, and only you, can make all things new. I love you, Jesus, and I thank you for walking with me always. Amen.

Well, my walking friend, you did it! Another 10 minutes of walking and another opportunity to build the spiritual discipline of prayer and quiet time with Jesus, the one who will wipes away all our tears. I’m grateful for you and I’m grateful you took the time to walk with me today.
