Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
Isaiah 40:30-31

Hello, my walking friend! The other day I was considering that fact that my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. And when I think about the way I treat my body sometimes, and if I’m being honest with you, my friends, probably more often than sometimes, all I can think is YIKES! But today is a new day and a new opportunity to make good choices for my body, choices that will honor the Holy Spirit, like taking a 10 minute walk! And the same is true for you, my walking friend, so let’s get going and do some home improvement for the Holy Spirit’s dwelling place!

Today is the 18th episode in the transformation series and our verse to meditate on is Isaiah 40:30-31:
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

Life is full of ups and downs, seasons of weariness and moments of stumbling. We all face times when our strength seems to wane, leaving us feeling exhausted and discouraged. But in the midst of our weakness, there is a promise of transformation and renewal found in the words of Isaiah 40:30-31.

These verses remind us that even the youngest and most energetic among us can grow tired and weary. The weariness of life can manifest itself physically, mentally, and emotionally, leaving us feeling drained and incapable of moving forward. It is during these times that we are invited to shift our focus from our own limited strength to the limitless power of Jesus.
The passage teaches us that those who place their hope in the Jesus will experience a remarkable transformation. They will be renewed in their strength, soaring on wings like eagles. My walking friend, have you ever watched an eagle or maybe a hawk soar effortlessly through the sky, gliding on the air currents with grace and ease? That image captures the promise of God’s renewal in our lives.

In moments of weariness and stumbling, it is so important to remember that transformation and renewal come through our relationship with God. When we draw near to Him in prayer, seek His wisdom in His Word, and surrender our burdens to Him, He infuses us with His strength. Our weariness becomes an opportunity for God’s power to be displayed in our lives.
The promise of transformation in today’s verses is not a mere fantasy or wishful thinking—it is rooted in the reality of our relationship with Jesus. When we put our hope in Him, we tap into a wellspring of divine power that fuels our journey. It is not a promise that we will be exempt from difficulties or weariness, but it assures us that as we walk with Jesus, we will find the strength to press on, to run the race, and to walk without growing faint.

As we rise on wings of grace, Strength renewed, we find our place. In weariness, we won’t be caught, For in the Lord, our hope is sought. With every step, we run the race, And never grow weary in His embrace. With steady pace, we journey on, For God’s strength in us, it won’t be gone.

Now let’s take a little time to meditate on today’s verse,
Isaiah 40:30-31:
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.

You are now at the halfway point of your walk. If you need to be back in 10 minutes, this would be the time to turn around and head back.

The second half of our walk is an opportunity for reflection, meditation, and prayer. For many of us, myself included, this might feel challenging. But the spiritual rewards, and transformation, that come from developing this discipline is great and so is the power of the Holy Spirit to help us. So let’s start with some questions that will guide you in the process of reflection.

Have you ever been in a season of life where you felt too weak to face the day? How did Jesus help you get through? Take some time to consider your answer now.

What does having hope in the Lord mean to you? Think about that now.

How does it make you feel to know that Jesus will renew your strength so you can do all that he has called you to do?

Now let’s listen to today’s verse one last time:
Isaiah 40:30-31:
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
Is there anything else you would like to talk to Jesus about? Anything going on in your life? Remember he is right there with you, walking with you, and he is eager for you to share all that is on your heart and mind with him. Take some time to talk to him now.

Now I am going to pray for us:
Dear Jesus,
Sometimes I feel so alone. It is hard to feel your presence. Forgive me when I doubt you are here with me, when I know your word promises that you are. When I am overwhelmed by discouragement, renew me with your strength. Help me fix my eyes on you, Jesus, as I wait patiently for seasons of struggle to pass. Fill my heart and mind with hope, knowing that one day I will soar like an eagle again. Thank you for the renewal that comes in the spring after the winter has passed. And thank you, Jesus, for walking with me in every season of my life. Amen.

Well, my walking friend, you did it! Another 10 minutes of walking and another opportunity to build the spiritual discipline of prayer and quiet time with Jesus, the one who carries our burdens when we are weary. I’m grateful for you and I’m grateful you took the time to walk with me today.
