Hello, my walking friend! Did you start walking during the intro? I hope so! If so, yay you! Remember, 10 minutes of walking a day could increase your lifespan! So get your blood pumping and set your mind and heart to focus on Jesus.

Today is the 6th episode in the names of Jesus series. There are so many names for Jesus but this one should make your heart sing with joy because today we are reflecting on Jesus, the Redeemer.

Our verse to meditate on today is: Psalm 19:14

May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

I think the words in the hymn, I Will Sing of My Redeemer by P.P. Bliss are beautiful. Here are some of the lyrics:

I will sing of my Redeemer
and his wondrous love to me;
on the cruel cross he suffered,
from the curse to set me free.

Sing, O sing of my Redeemer!
With his blood he purchased me;
on the cross he sealed my pardon,
paid the debt, and made me free.

I will tell the wondrous story,
how my lost estate to save,
in his boundless love and mercy,
he the ransom freely gave.

I will praise my dear Redeemer,
his triumphant power I’ll tell:
how the victory he gives me
over sin and death and hell.

I will sing of my Redeemer
and his heavenly love for me;
he from death to life has brought me,
Son of God, with him to be.

Sing, O sing of my Redeemer!
With his blood he purchased me;
on the cross he sealed my pardon,
paid the debt, and made me free.

Take a little time now to meditate on Psalm 19:14 and what it means that Jesus is your redeemer.

May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Did Jesus reveal anything special to you as you meditated on the verse?

Here’s what Jesus revealed to me as I studied and meditated on this verse:

Jesus doesn’t want anyone to be a slave to sin. He wants us to live a life that is far greater than anything the world has to offer. Jesus offers us a firm foundation that is built with love. And he offers this firm foundation, his redemption and freedom to every human being. He longs to be our redeemer, to be your redeemer. When we accept him as our redeemer, he will work in us and cleanse us from sin and wrong-doing and wrong-thinking that will destroy our soul. The more we know him, the more his love and freedom will permeate our being. And we can know Jesus better by meditating on his word and fixing our eyes on him. He loves us so much and there isn’t anything he would do to be with us, to walk with us. Jesus, the Redeemer, is a precious title, and one that came at a great price.

Let’s take some time to meditate again on Jesus, the Redeemer, and what that means to us.

You are now at the halfway point of your walk. If you need to be back in 10 minutes, this would be the time to turn around and head back.

Now I am going to pray for us:

Dear Jesus,

You are my precious redeemer. Help me remember it is only by your sacrifice of love that we can walk together. Help me never to take that sacrifice for granted. You have redeemed me from the pit – the pit of self-absorption, the pit of self-destruction, and the deepest pit of all, the pit of sin that separates me from you. Your redemption has cleansed me, Jesus. I want to walk in your light and reflect your goodness in this dark world. I want others to find their redemption in you. I want to be your image bearer to others, but I can’t do this on my own. Jesus, my redeemer, I need you. Help me fix my eyes on you, and you alone, so that I can live a life that pleases you and draws others to you. Thank you, Jesus, for redeeming me so that we can walk together always. Amen.

Here are some questions for you to consider.

Have you ever found yourself in a pit? What kind and how did you get out? Take a little time to consider how you would respond.

What has Jesus redeemed you from? Take some time to think of all Jesus has redeemed you from and spend a little time thanking him.

What does redemption mean to you? Take a little time to consider your response.

Before we wrap up, listen to today’s verse one last time:

Psalm 19:14

May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Is there anything else you would like to talk to Jesus about? Remember, he is right there with you, walking with you, and he is eager for you to share all that is on your heart and mind with him. Take some time to talk to Jesus now.

Well done, my walking friend! You did it! You spent 10 minutes walking and walking with your redeemer. I know Jesus will bless you for the time you spent with him! And thank you for spending some time with me, too!
